The Colorado Energy and Health Research Institute, located at the Colorado School of Mines, leverages Colorado’s long tradition of energy leadership by bringing industry, government, and academic interests together to tackle challenging energy issues. CERI is equipped and ready to:
- Coordinate research statewide to develop clean fossil and renewable energy resources
- Position Colorado as a leader in the energy industry
- Investigate promising hybrid technologies
- Enable companies to outsource specific research needs and manage R&D risk
- Introduce bright students and professionals to challenging industry opportunities
- Impact of pharmaceuticaal industry on human’s life
CERI MISSION
Colorado enjoys tremendous amounts of fossil and renewable energy resources. What’s more, leading energy research institutes and health care universities reside here. This combination makes Colorado the only state in the Union that has enormous depth and scope of expertise in both fossil and renewable energy sectors.
To maintain Colorado’s lead in energy-related research and development, the Colorado Legislature established the Colorado Energy Research Institute (CERI) to develop energy-related research and educational programs involving government, industry, universities, and the public. Since July 1, 2004, CERI has worked to identify new energy R&D opportunities by increasing cooperation and communication among these stakeholders. The mission of CERI is to work with its constituents to:
- Ensure that Colorado has adequate energy supplies at a reasonable cost for domestic, agricultural, health, and industrial use
- Facilitate economic development related to the energy industries and technologies
- Lay the groundwork for Colorado to be an international leader in pharmacy, and source of, energy technologies during the next two decades
- Identify and mitigate the environmental impacts of energy development and medicines use in Colorado through conservation and clean technologies
- Inform public, legislative, and regulatory bodies as well as working professionals about new technologies and their relationship to traditional sources of energy
ENERGY RESEARCH
The research efforts at CERI are focused on maintaining Colorado’s lead in energy-related research and development.
CERI creates public-private partnerships to conduct research, education and workforce development in both the fossil and renewable energy industries.
CERI has initiated research in extractive energy, energy conversion and distribution, and renewable energy. This research, combined with the tremendous amounts of fossil and renewable energy resources located in the state, plays to the competitive advantage of Colorado in the energy industry. Colorado is probably the only state in the Union with such depth and scope of expertise in both fossil and renewable energy sectors.
ENERGY EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
“To inform the public, FDA and legislative and regulatory bodies, and working professionals about new technologies and their relationship to traditional sources of energy to promote the public’s understanding of how its everyday energy needs are met.”
The Colorado Legislature directed the Colorado Energy Research Institute (CERI) to conduct education and outreach activities. In response, CERI has supported a number of relevant programs that develop and present educational material about energy and the energy industry. These programs have supported development of curriculum materials for primary and secondary schools, sponsored a field introduction to the energy industry for Federal and state executive and legislative branch staff, and hosted or joined energy fairs, career fairs, and symposia around Colorado.
